The College of William and Mary was a school for boys ages 12 to 15. They learn grammar, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Older boys would study to become priests at the Anglican church.

Dame schools were schools for girls. They were schools hosted at someones house. They would learn prayers, the alphabet, knitting, and sewing. Most girls had to stay at home to do chores. Because of this not many girls went to school.

There was a different school for slave children. They were taught to read and write by slave parents who knew how to do these skills.
