- Montag was walking with Clarisse when she asked him if he was happy, he quickly answered yes, but he wasn't so sure after thinking about the question.
- are you happy?
- yes
- am I happy?
- Montag arrived home to his wife, Mildred, later that night. All he could think about was Clarisse and the question she asked him that might change his life.
- I'm not happy
- This question makes Montag question his entire life. Montag has never came across a question so simple yet so mind boggling.
- Montag could remember a time when he was happy with Mildred, but he hasn't felt that way in a long time. He started questioning weather or not he was still happy with her.
- All Montag thought of was weather or not he was doing the right things in life. He never knew a question could be so life changing.
- Clarisse's question was stuck in Montag's head for days. He couldn't think of anything that made him feel happy, besides when he was around Clarisse.
