  • George Washington was a very historical figure of this time, with being the first president of the US to being a general in the revolutionary war.

  • George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland Virginia. His family was middle class, and owned a plantation. His father died when George was 11, having now owned 10 slaves as a child.

  • George Washington joined the Continental Congress in 1774 as a delegate from Virginia. In 1775, he was offered the job of being the commander in chief of the Continental Army.

  • George Washington was known for being a general in the revolutionary war. He organized a group of spies that transferred information about the British occupied New York to him. He was also a commander for Virginia troops.
  • He better go quick!
  • He agreed along with A. Hamilton and J. Madison that the US needed a new constitution, and he was the first to sign it. George Washington was the first president of the United States of America, serving 8 years from 1789 through 1797.

  • Some interesting facts about George Washington is that he owned 30 hunting dogs. He owned 123 slaves himself, with 317 slaves living on his estate. Lastly he was the only president to not live in the white house. At the time it was under construction.
