Vast Traveler
Here Odysseus is being born as the prince of Ithaca, who in our story is the king. "Tell him Odysseus, Raider of cities, took your eye, Laertes' son, who's home is on Ithaca." (Homer 1122)
Unmatched Warrior
In this scene Odysseus is being praised by Athena for using his main special ability, wisdom. "My name is Nohbody: mother, father, friends, everyone calls me Nohbody." (Homer 1118).
Battles Supernatural Forces
Here Odysseus is being shown to travel everywhere on his adventure to Troy and back. "And learned the minds of many distant men, and weathered many bitter nights and days in his deep heart at sea" (Homer 1104).
In this slide Odysseus is put against Poseidon's curse of storms (which is only one of his many hardships) and still makes it through fine. O hear me, lord, blue girdler of the islands...grant that Odysseus, raider of cities, never see his home." (Homer 1123).
One of the main supernatural forces we see Odysseus battle is Polyphemus, The cyclops. Instead of using blunt force, Odysseus tricks him by saying his name is "Nobody." "Nohbody, Nohbody's tricked me, Nohbody's ruined me." (Homer 1119)
