Evidence 1: The residence on Maple Street accused Mr.Goodman and family his for being aliens.
Evidence 2: Steve and the residence on Maple Street accused Charlie for being an alien.
Evidence 3: The residence on Maple Street accused Tommy for being an alien.
The theme of the story "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is don't jump to conclusions. I think this because throughout the story the characters keep accusing each other for being aliens without any evidence. My first piece of evidence is when the residents accused Mr.Goodman’s family for being aliens. They said this because the city was in a blackout and Mr. Goodman’s car was the only electronic working. They assumed because his car was working he put the whole city in a blackout and set only his car to work. My next piece of evidence is when the residents accused Charlie for being an alien. They said this because Charlie was the one who was accusing everyone and he killed Pete Van Horne. They thought since he was accusing everyone he was the alien and he didn’t want to get caught so he shot Pete Van Horne. Then the residents accused Tommy and his family for being aliens. They said it was him because he knew everything that was going on. Tommy told everyone that the reason there was a blackout was because aliens invaded the planet and they all assumed he was the alien because he knew this. The reason the theme is don’t jump to conclusions is because the residents on Maple Street were jumping to conclusions saying who were the aliens without any proof or evidence and in the end it was none of them.
