In the first part of the book, "The Spark", it explains a lot about what happened in the first book of the trilogy, "The Hunger Games." It also explains itself in its name. The ignition(The Spark) that gets the book going is Katniss, having to truly LOVE Peeta. This is the main topic that goes throughout the whole book. She also learns about the "underground rebillion" in Panem. She does not know if this is true or not, but she sure does hope that it is true.
In the second part of the book, "The Quell", the most action takes place. This is the section of the book where they actually start fighting. The fighting is basically the same as the first book in the series, "The Hunger Games", but the setting is on a tropical island. Katniss tells the story in her own perspective, but she also will get flashes of what the other people think of the 75th Hunger Games. Throughout the whole book, Katniss had to love Peeta because President Snow was threatening her.
Finally, "The Enemy", was personally the best part of the book. There are multiple disadvantages in this book that are going after the different people of the different districts including fog that has poison(pg. 298), monkeys that are demon posessed(pg. 311), and rain in the form of blood. Not all of them attacked Katniss and Peeta, but of their allies of district 7.
This picture is showing the demon-possessed monkeys that were running after them. The one on the ground is one that Peeta killed in self defense by "...burying his knife into the monkey's back, stabbing it again and again(pg. 311)..."
In this scene, Wiress, Johanna, and Beetee are all running from the blood rain. They run towards the center of the island because they know they are safe there.
Katniss, figures out that on the island, or in the arena, there is a force field that is surrounding the island. Katniss takes down the force field by shooting an arrow, tied with copper wire on the tip, at the sky. She figures out that the other tributes were planning something on her and Peeta. She did not know what. In the end, she figures out that the whole plan was to overthrow the Capitol and she was the main part of it.
