  • In the late 1800s in South Carolina, poor white farmers accepted the leadership of Ben Tillman because of his great speaking and political skills.
  • Tillman never appealed for the vote of the African Americans. Tillman ran on a platform of white supremacy.
  • Tillman's racism led to the reemergence of the terrorism from the Reconstruction era.
  • Were the KKK. Here to ruin your day.
  • Ben Tillman urged his followers for a new state constitution, this was called the Constitution of 1895. It was ment to make segregation a law.
  • Even though I'm poor and illiterate. Thanks to the "grandfather clause" , I can vote!
