Park is a very quite boy, but as the story goes on we see how kind,understanding, and encouraging. He is also be narcissistic and closed off. In the beginning, Park is introduced with the best intentions and traits, he is very sweet, but also closed off, to everyone. Soon, when he opens up, we do see a side of him that is narcissistic.
Eleanor can be very caring and a good Listerine. However, she doesn't always speak her mind and can be quite sensitive. She starts off as lonely and secluded, but once she meets park, she begins to open up and talk to more people too
The book "Eleanor & Park" is about how love has no boundaries. No matter how far Eleanor & Park are, they will always love each other and nothing can separate them.
The author, Rainbow Roswell, used imagery to help set up her scenes and bring each character and moment to life. In this scene, Eleanor finds something mean written on her book when shes with Park, and Rowell describes Eleanor as being embarrasses without ever directly saying it.
Park gives Eleanor an expensive necklace during Christmas, which she had to lie bout to her family on where she got it. The necklace represents Park, and how, in her eyes, she is beautiful and she still has to lie about him protecting him.
Rowell also uses many similes in her book. Park compares holding Eleanor hand is like holding a living creature or a beating heart, when it is literally just her hand. To Park it jut way much more then a hand.
