Salva was a 12-year-old boy who was growing up in the middle of the southern and northern Sudanian war.
"I need to go home! I must go home!" pg. 7
He was scared, but he was brave. His family was a few miles away when the gunshots fired. He was separated from his family in 1985 and walked across Sudan with complete strangers to get away from those gunshots. He was a lost boy of Sudan.
Thankfully, he was found by a friend while walking, as well as his uncle. They gave him hope and helped him carry on, knowing that there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
