  • 1765----The Quartering Acts
  • We need to find a place quick. All the barracks are full.
  • You need to provide us food and a place to sleep.
  • What are you doing here?
  • By the order of King George III, you have to give us food and a place to sleep.
  • I'm sorry, I can't help you.
  • I'm afraid you don't have a choice
  • Here is where you will sleep.
  • I gave them the worst room
  • Here's your food.
  • I gave them all the leftovers.
  • The Act would eventually be repealed in 1770, but then re-imposed in 1774 as a result of the British Tea Party
  • Generally the soldiers would be housed in barracks provided by the colonies, but overflow would be housed in inns and public homes.
  • The Quartering Acts were Acts of British Parliament requiring local governments of the American colonies to provide the British soldiers with housing and food.
  • This is unfair. We shouldn't have to provide for Britain's Soldiers.
