I have to go to math practice on that day. Can I really do that without missing class? /
Do you want to come over to my house on Friday? Everybody in the class will be there.
Making Good Decisions
If I consider my choices, I can make a better decision. My problem is that I want to go to my friend's party, but I have math practice on the same day.
Identify Your Problem
I can't come over if I respect my values. I have to learn math properly so I can go to college. Education is really important to me.
Consider Your Values
I don't have a lot of choices. Either I can say no to my best friend and disappoint him, or I can come over and miss math practice.
List Your Options
If I turn down my friend, he'll understand and let me go to math practice. If I go to his house, I'll miss math practice and won't learn anything. I'll waste my family's money and lose their trust.
Weigh Your Consequences
Decide, Act, and Reflect
I can't go. I'm sorry, but I have math practice on the same day. I can't make the time to do it.
Oh, okay. That's too bad, but I understand.
I'm glad I chose not to go. I value my education a lot, and I want to make sure I go to college. If I went, maybe my parents would not trust me and I would have to pay for college myself. I think I made a good choice because I now understand my values are more powerful than peer pressure. Yay!
