Off D: Let me tell you, people of our color and people who are living in poverty face unfairness in the justice system. This is a serious problem that is affecting the lives of many people.
Rookie: Yes, I agree. We basically have two justice systems. One for the rich and another for everybody else. This is extremely unfair to those people who have to suffer behind those bars while people with money can roam around outside of jail waiting for their trial.
Yes, I agree with what you said in the car. I was in the court when i was a rookie. There was a big case and the Chief wanted me to observe so i can learn the ropes quicker.
It was a civil case and the person being sued was the defendant, he had an attorney to represent him to help tell his side of the story. The prosecutor used his witness and evidence to prove to the jury that the defendant committed the crime. This whole case really showed me that the justice system is cruel.
What did he do?
He hanged with the wrong friends and now he is left to clean up their mess. His friends set him up. He thought they were just going out for some drinks but his friends had other plans. They kidnapped a girl and assaulted her. He was so lost and confused, he didn't know what to do. His friend held him by gunpoint and told him to shoot her.
The prosecutor was committed to making him sit in jail and so said so done. He is serving up to 35-50 years. But anyways lets go give these papers back to the chief!
Alright, lets head on up.
Yes i did actually, I've learnt a lot and I'm ready to take on this journey.
Good Day Chief, here are the documents from the Superior Court.
