The Lend Lease Act allowed the US to help countries they were allied with. They sent tanks, airplanes, and food to Great Britain, the Nationalists of China, and other Allied countries.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, along with most Americans, was not eager to enter the war. The size of the US Navy nearly doubled and by using the Lend Lease Act, FDR was able to give other countries weapons or protection materials to use in the war that he thought would protect America more.
The Battle of Stalingrad was the largest confrontation in WW2 and Germany and its allies fought against the Soviet Union for the control of a town in Southern Russia called Stalingrad. The Soviet ended up with the victory. On June 6, 1944, 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches with a length of 50-miles on the coast of France’s Normandy region. The invasion was one of the largest military assaults in history.
Germany Defeating was not the only plan America had. Pearl Harbor was just the beginning of Japanese assaults on America. Two days after Pearl Harbor happened, the US conquered Guam and two weeks after that they captured Wake Island. Before the end of 1941, the Philippines were also under attack.
The US dropped to atomic bombs on Japan. The first one dropped was on August 6, 1945 and the second one being on August 9. The Japanese officially surrendered on August 15, 1945. the US destroyed about 1/3 of the city and about 22,000 people died right away.
Even though this war ended around 70 years ago, it is still remembered. People in the US are still remembering this war because of how tragic it was and how horrible people were treated.
