  • In 1805, the white American expansion caused Tenskwatawa to rebel and start a resistance to stop the expansion.  
  • In 1813, Tecumseh died fighting to protect his land and people. But his Indian Confederacy fell apart and white Americans took his land.
  • Also in 1813, The Creek tribe was divided on whether they should fight back or ally with the growing nation.
  • Congress paid the white Americans to do what they could to “convert” the Natives into good U.S. citizens. They tried forcing them to them to convert religiously and culturally.
  • A native tribe sold a piece of land to one person, but the government sold that piece of land to a different person. The Supreme Court took away the Naitves' right to sell land.
  • Native tribes were being removed from their territory by the U.S. Military and sent to reserves.
