  • Ernest Rutherford directed an experiment in 1909 which was called the Geiger-Marsden experiment or the “gold-foil experiment”
  • I can't believe it, Ernest Rutherford was right!!!
  • In 1911, Ernest Rutherford discovered that atoms have a small nucleus and empty space that has electrons orbiting around the nucleus. This became known as the Planetary Model.
  • Ernest Rutherford, in 1919  was credited with the discovery of the proton and he also hypothesized the neutron.
  • In 1932, James Chadwick proved the theory of the neutrons proposed by Ernest Rutherford
  • With all the discoveries that Ernest Rutherford made, he decided to create his own model of the atom. This model would be accepted until the Bohr's model came into fruition.
