Storyboard Text

  • Hello, I am Fredrick Douglass and I am a former slave and abolitionists. I write and say speeches against slavery.
  • I am Harriet Tubman. I was born into slavery and became an abolitionists. I helped escaped slaves reach the North via the Underground Railroad network.
  • As abolitionists we try to end slavery in the US. This is because we see slavery as an abomination and want to put an en to that kind of treatment. Although we are unsure on an agreement of how to do it. Some of us want to revolt, try to find peace, or slaveholders find a non slave farming method.
  • Abolitionist also face violence when convincing others to go against slavery. For example when Angela Grimke, who spoke against slavery, faced anti-abominations that threw stones and burned down the place she spoke.
  • The Liberty Bell was a symbol for the abolitionist cause. The bell was an embraced symbol by Boston abolitionists who adopted the name The Liberty Bell for their anti-slavery publication.
  • The abolitionist reform changes lead to more slave runaways and a civil war. This also gave women the courage to speak up for their equal rights
  • Thanks to our efforts and resistance towards violence, the thirteenth amendment was in-acted in 1865 which abolished slavery.
