  • A fort that was located in South Carolina called Fort Sumter was running out of supplies and militiamen. Since South Carolina seceded, the fort wasn't provided either.

  • President Lincohn did not want to give up Fort Sumter and was only able to to send supplies. He notified South Carolina so that he wasn't attacked.

  • It's like he's BEGGING for war!!
  • On April 12, 1861, Confederate forces fired at Fort Sumter.
  • Seceding States
  • We're forced to secede.
  • On April 15, 1861, Lincohn asked for all states to have a militia prepared. This request caused four states to join the Confederacy.
  • On April 19th and 27th of 1861, Lincohn called blockades on Southern Forts. This was seen as an act of aggression for war towards the Confederate forces.

  • The aggression forced four more states to join the Confederacy.
