Calpurnia serves as a helper in the Finch household. She's not a servant, but more of a helper around the house. She is wise and humble.
She helps Scout with her school work and her learning. She is smart and believes education is important.
Calpurnia goes outside and must stop the kids from causing trouble and making a mess. She keeps the kids in line.
She brings Scout and Jem to her church which is strictly from African Americans. She thinks it is important for the kids to be educated, even though they will be judged.
Calpurnia is the mother figure and role model for the children. She plays a big part in their everyday life. Cal cares about the children and makes sure they're safe and doing well. She's kind, caring, and the best role model for Jem and Scout.
