  • American forces were retreating and preparing to go across the delaware river for their surprise attack on the British.

  • On december 25th,1776 George Washington and the continental army crossed delaware river into New Jersey In a surprise attack on British.

  • The hessians were not prepared for such an attack force and the americans caught them by surprise and started shooting at them.

  • The hessians soon surrendered and the leader of the British got shot and he later died.
  • The british were getting weaker and weaker and losing many people because they were not prepared to be attacked by the Americans by surprise.
  • The british had 22 deaths and 83 injuries. The Americans suffered 2 deaths and 5 injuries and so later it was soon to be called and known as the "American victory at Trenton".
