The winter was harsh with very little food. Napoleon is determined to not let Mr. Whymper know. Empty barrels filled with sand and then the remaining food is placed on top. This makes it look like the whole barrel is full of food.
Look at all the food we have!
Napoleon accepted a contract for 400 eggs a week. This would give them more money for food. The hens refused and hid in the rafters. Their eggs fell and broke. Nine of the hens died before they agreed to sell their eggs.
Surrender your eggs. 400 a week.
Mr. Whymper is suggesting that Napoleon sell aged timber to either Mr. Frederick or Mr. Pilkington. Napoleon could never come to an agreement. Whenever he leaned towards one, Snowball seemed to be staying at that farm.
Snowball's hiding Foxwood so I must sell to Pilkington. But wait! Now he is at Pinchfield so I should sell to Frederick. Oh, what should I do?
Things around the farm are being destroyed. Napoleon and Squealer convince the animals that Snowball is behind it. They say that he is a traitor and that he was working for Jones the entire time.
Snowball has been here! He is destroying our things!
Comrades! Snowball is a traitor, spying for Jones!
How could he?
After Napoleon told the animals Snowball was working for Jones, some animals came forward and said they followed orders from Snowball. The animals were then brutally executed by the dogs. The dogs even tried to execute Boxer, who did not follow orders from Snowball.
Snowball made us do it.
The other animals were scared after the execution and started signing Beast of England for comfort. Squealer orders them to stop. Minimus is writing a new song since they are no longer rebelling.
Beasts of England...
Stop signing that! It is a rebellion song. We are not rebelling!
