The Cherokee worked together to stop this relocation. However, the Cherokee were unsuccessful in their attempt to keep their land and were eventually forcibly removed by the United States government
The tribes Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee-Creek, Seminole, and oringinal Cherokee nations had no choice but to keep moving or they would die, if a family member died you had no time to grief. The path they took is now known as the trail of tears.
