She came from my head covered in armor and holding a spear
The story of Athena is about how she became the legend she is today, and how she created the spider out of one of her apponents.
I will be the best at spinning clothes ever. Even better than Athena.
Athena was as you know the goddess of wisdom and war. Her father Zeus gave birth to her from his head as a grown women covered in armor and in possession of a spear.
Thanks to her wisdom she was gifted with the ability to teach the men about war, and how to create weapons and tools.
Because of her wisdom when she learned she had such an intellectual advantage she decided to teach women and men different sets of skills. And when she taught the women how to spin she gave Arachne her skills as well as her pride.
Arachne learned from the best and because she was taught how to sew thing she did it all the time. Using these skills Arachne became famous for her new found talent and ended up letting the praise get to her head almost risking her her life.
When Athena came down from Olympus she almost killed Arachne until a better thought came to mind, a weeving contest. In the end Arachne lost so badly that she hung herself. Out of pitty instead of bringing her back to life she turned her into a spider. And that is why we call them aracnids, in honor of the best of them all.
