Before Siddhartha Gautama was born, his mother Queen Maya had a dream where a special elephant told her she was going to give birth the the Buddha. Then the elephant went into her womb and she woke up.
Siddhartha's mom died shortly after he was born, so his dad raised him. He gave him a life of luxury, he had everything he would ever need. His dad tried to raise him to be a ruler.
When he was in his teen years, he went out with someone to go outside and ride his horse around the town. He saw people dying, suffering and that made his confused and sad. He wasn't used to that.
Years later, when he had a very pretty wife and a baby, he left. He knew he had to fix the problem with all of the suffering, he wouldn't come back until he had solved the problem. He shaved his head and get different clothes.
He found a tree and sat under it. He eneded up sitting there for 49 days untill he reached enlightenment. Thats where his mind was compleely clear and he did that by being silent and meditating. He had a whole precess.
After the 49th day, when he found enlightenment, he became the buddha. He started the religion that so many people started to follow and he became a very important person.
