Storyboard Text

  • When slave were brought to the America on the boat they were on, they were fed oats, peas, beans, biscuits, maize, plantains, and rice.
  • So when they got to America they didn't know each other and they didn't speak the same language so they had to learn each other language so they could of communicate to each others. One way they did that was combined their music with Euro-American music that they learned.
  • They made up new language by picking English words and rhyming them with their grammar and creating new words. Creating some words that are still used today.
  • The “House of Slaves” was a slave merchant where slaves were brought to be evaluated before being sold.
  • The “Door of No Return” was. A door that lead to a ship were slaves were loaded on, never to return there again.
  • Captured people were treated very poorlyOne example of this was that they didn't have any beds to sleep in. Another example was they had to be changed up all the time.
