Iago complains to Roderigo how he wasn't promoted despite having more military experience. In order to get what he wants, he explains that he needs to pretend to like Othello. Iago then suggests going to Desdemona's father's house to tell him news that will upset him.
Roderigo leads them to Brabantio's, Desdemona's father, house and makes a ruckus to make him come out. Iago yells for him to wake up because there's theives. He warns him to check on his daughter, house, and money.
Iago claims that Desdemona is out with Othello. Brabantio initially thinks Roderigo's only there because he's inlove with Desdemona, but after listening to them, he starts to believe them and goes to check on her. Iago then leaves to go warn Othello despite being the reason for the chaos.
Brabantio notices Desdemona is gone. He frantically asks Roderigo all these questions about where she would be and if she's really with Othello. Brabantio thinks Othello's using black magic with Desdemona.
Iago ironically tells Othello that he thinks he's not cruel enough for his job despite manipulating everyone and putting Othello's marriage at risk. Iago puts on a front and pretends to be Othello's friend warning him about Brabantio. Othello is confident in his love for Desdemona.
Brabantio says he wishes Roderigo married Desdemona now. He asks Roderigo where to find Othello. They decide to gather a group of men and weapons to find him.
