The Watson's are introduced through Kenny's eyes. The Watson's live in Flint, Michigan and it is the dead of winter. This show the exposition because they are introducing the characters and the setting.
All the Watson's go to Birmingham. They are bringing Byron so he can stay there with Grandma Sands. This is the Rising action because this is where the family starts dealing with some problems.
Kenny decides to go swimming in the whirlpool. Kenny almost drowns, but Byron saves him. This shows the climax because this is a this is the problem and it starts getting solved.
I will help you
The church in Birmingham was bombed. Kenny thinks that he is seeing Joetta's ghost, but she is actually alive. This is the Falling action because the first problem got solved but a new problem started.
The Watson's return home and Byron helps Kenny cope with the tragedy they all witnessed in Alabama. This is the resolution because this is were all the conflicts are solved and the Watson's get back home.
I think that the theme is Family comes first because in the story all of the Watson's were helping each other because family comes first. This is the Theme because it shows how family will allway help you first.
