Gilgamesh meets with Enkidu and they have a fight.
Gilgamesh wins the fight, but eventually the both become friends with each other. Gilgamesh is happy he finally has a friend as strong as him. They go on many adventures that displeasure the gods and they need punishment.
Enkidu was chosen to be punished by the gods. He becomes very ill and eventually dies. Gilgamesh morns over Enkidu's death , making him more frightened of death. Gilgamesh decides to go on a journey to obtain eternal life from Utnapishtim.
Gilgamesh asks Utnapishtim for eternal life but he says that no mortal can grant that wish and he´d have to ask the gods. Utnapishtim mentioned a plant that lays at the bottom of the ocean and obtaining it would give eternal life.
After Gilgamesh finds the plant Utnapishtim told him about he falls asleep. When he wakes up he sees a serpent steal the plant away from him and eat it, causing the snake to shed its skin. He realizes he has gained nothing after his long journey.
After Gilgamesh learns his lesson he returns to Uruk where he no longer has selfishness in his heart and becomes more humble. He doesn't hurt anymore of the innocent and he gives more to his people. Gilgamesh accepts death as a natural happening to all living things. Although he doesn't get eternal life, he is eternally remembered.
