  • Napoleon III Was Furious, So He Sentenced Hugo To Exile For Seventeen Years
  • While he was in exile, he wrote Les Miserables, which means The Miserable Ones in English. 'In 1859, he rejected an opportunity to return to France. He declared that he would return only with the return of liberty.'
  • When Napoleon III Was Finally Defeated, Victor Hugo finally came home. And in 1861, Hugo got Les Miserables published.
