Pythagorean theorem Trees

Pythagorean theorem Trees

Storyboard Text

  • New trees are being planted and held up by wires. Each wire is 3 ft. above the ground, and then in the ground 4 ft. from the base of the tree, but the workers want to know how much wire will be needed for 6 trees
  • 4 feet
  • 3 feet
  • This is when you should use the pythagorean theorem. Side A2 + Side B2 = Side C. However whatever the end product is you have to multiply by 6, to stand for the 6 trees
  • 4 feet
  • 3 feet
  • 3x3 + 4x4 = 25. The square root of 25 is 5. 5x6=30. So the workers will need 30 feet of wire to plant all six trees.
