Exposition- Reader is introduced to the Narrator and his valet, Pedro, the Narrator is injured to they stop at an prodigious abandoned chateau.
Inciting Action- The Narrator spots a painting of a young woman with a beautiful mien. The Narrator then spots a book on the paintings and begins to read the story of the young woman.
Rising Action- ( Beginning of Story) The painter gets married to his beautiful wife and begins to paint a portrait of her using his advanced dexterity.
Climax- The painter is so engrossed in painting his wife, he does not realize his wife's declining health. His wife's quiet demeanor and use of dissimulation also stops the painter from realizing her situation.
Falling Action- The painter is finishing his portrait vehemently adding tints to the cheeks of his painting as his wife's life fades away.
Resolution- The painter finishes and stares at the beautiful eclat before him, but when he goes to show his wife the masterpiece, she is dead.
