Romeo and Juliet

Storyboard Text

  • Act 2 scene 2 Romeo goes to see Juliet without permission and the two talk about their marriage plans.
  • “ It is my soul that calls upon my name. How silver-sweet sound lovers' tongues by night, Like softest music to attending ears"
  • Act 1 scene 4 Romeo talks about why he doesn't want to go to the Capulet Party because he fears something bad will happen to him there.
  • For my mind misgives Some consequence, yet hanging in the stars, Shall bitterly begin his fearful date With this night's revels, and expire the term of a despised life closed in my breast, By some vile forfeit of untimely death. But he that hath the steerage of my course. Directs my sail!
  • Act 3 scene 1 Benvolio pleads to Mercutio to not go into town that day.
  • I pray thee, good Mercutio, let's retire. The day is hot, the Capulets aboad,And, if we meet, we shall not scape a bawl; For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.
  • Juliet talks about how her soul is calling out to Romeo and when her soul calls out it's like sweet soft music that is meant only for him. This relates to the motif of fate and that these two are star-crossed lovers whose souls call out to one another. No matter where they are their souls cry out their names to be together because it is fate.
  • Romeo talks about how he had a vivid dream last night about the Capulet party. He says that if he were to attend this party something in it or someone he encounters will eventually be the cause of his death. This relates to the motif of fate as it talks about how a higher power has already decided that these two will meet as that is how Romeo will eventually end up dying. Fate has united these two which we know later on is Juliet.
  • Benvolio pleads to Mercutio that they should return back home because he feels something is going to happen in town that day. Mercutio refuses to listen and continues walking in town that day. This relates to the motif of fate as even with Benvolio pleading with him to not go fate has already decided to side with Mercutio and that the day must go on. Unfortunately, like Benvolio predicted a brawl did end up occurring and Mercutio was killed.
