Rising Action #2
The company will give you 200 pounds for your loss.
I'm so exited!
Sergeant Major Morris shows up after Mr. White lost to his son (Herbert) at chess. He was an old friend of Mr. White and he revealed the story of the monkey's claw. After reaching for the claw in the fire, Mr. White was warned of the consequences from it.
After Major Morris left, Mr. White held the claw and had wished that he had 200 pounds. Mr. White got spooked because he said that it had moved in his hand.
On the day after, Herbert jokingly said that the money would just come normally. Hours later, someone came to their house to tell them that their son had got stuck in one of the machines at work. The company felt so badly that they wanted to give them a return of 200 pounds.
10 nights later, Mrs. White realized that they could just wish their son back alive. She told Mr. White to wish upon the claw for that. He did so, and soon later he had heard sounds of knocking towards the door of the house. Mrs. White happily headed to the door, trying unlock the door for her son.
I wish for every thing to go back to normal.
Mr. White felt too stressed to see his son possibly be in bad shape or looking terrible. So, as he ran after his wife, he looked for the claw to wish for his second wish to go away. He had found the claw and wished right before his wife had even opened the door.
When Mrs. White opened the front door, and she cried and cried because when she had opened the door, there had been nobody there. All that was there was the empty street, and a flickering streetlamp on the quiet road.
