We can use the sheep to make our escape since he will open the door to let the cattle out to graze.
Nobody is Hurting me!
"But anguish lies ahead;the god who thunders on the land prepares it... quit the violet sea, dark on the land you ll find the grazing herds of Helios by whom all things are seen, all speech is known. Avoid those kine, hold fast to your intent, and hard seafaring brings you all to Ithaca. But if you raid the beeves, I see destruction for ship and crew."
Untie me! Untie me!
Odysseus and 12 of his strongest fighters went on to a strange Island to see if the if the cyclopes are friends or foes. When they got to the cave they began to feast, which is a normal thing to do. However when the Polyphemus, the son of Poseidon came he became angered and started to feast on the men. So Odysseus devised a plan to blind the cyclops and make his escape by clinging to the underneath of the sheep.
Scylla and Charybdis
The Grace Witch Circe let them go on the condition that they must go to the land of the dead and hear a prophecy from the ghost of Tiresias. This is a dangerous path because people do not usually come back as they lose their souls. So Odysseus sacrifices their best goat in order to come back. On the ways there he encountered his men who had died and wanted a proper burial. He then heard the prophecy which had made him scared, but afterwards, he found his mother who died of a broken heart. This gave him courage and willpower to come back to his family.
The Sirens live on a rocky coast island and are known to lure men towards them by their singing, causing the ships to break on the rocks. Odysseus puts beeswax in the men's ears to prevent them from hearing the Sirens. Odysseus who wished to hear the song, tells his men to tie him to the mast of the ship in order to get past the island. Afterwards the crew unties hims as they were about to face even bigger monsters.
Who ever can complete the challenge will be the new king.
The Witch Circe also warns them about the six headed serpent Scylla and Charybdis the sucking whirlpool that stand at the end of the cliff. She warns hims that they can not fight these monster and will have to just row away to safety. She also warns that they will lose crewman as no one has gotten past them without sacrifice. Fearing that his men would cower, he only tells them about the sirens. Finally when they went through the cave Scylla had taken 6 men and they rowed past Charybdis.
"I told them nothing, as they could do nothing. They would have dropped their oars again, in panic, to roll for cover under the decking."
Odysseus tried to tell his men not to land on the Island of Thrinacia where the Titan God Helios grazes his immortal cattle. He was told by Circe and by the ghost the prophecy that if they avoided the island than they would have a smooth travel home, but if they ate the cattle then they would face trouble and Odysseus would be the only survivor. His men disobeyed his order, had landed and feasted on the cattle. This had angered Helios the sun god who refused to shine. To appease Helios Zeus struck Odysseus's ship, once they were back out to sea, leaving Odysseus as the only survivor.
Listen to me my man we shall sail straight home and avoid this Island.
No! we are famished and we want to eat. Look cattle!
With the help of King Alcinous Odysseus has a smooth ride home without any interference from the gods. Athena uses her powers to make Odysseus look like a beggar. After easily completing the task of shooting an arrow through the holes of the ends of axes, his true identity is revealed. He then surprises and kills all the suitors with his son. In the end Odysseus is back in power and is reunited with his family.
