  • Cause
  • Boooo! Get outta here!
  • The new law states that...
  • Yes sir!
  • Most important event
  • Time to get our independence!
  • We must make an army to fight the British! Washington can be general!
  • Outcome/effects of the war
  • One cause of the war was so that the colonists can be free from Britain rule. The colonists started to rebel against the unfair laws of Britain.
  • Cause (continued)
  • One of the most important events was the second Continental congress. This was important because it shows how Americans or the colonists have declared war against Britain because the wanted to have independence from Britain. This also caused the making of the continental army, Washington being in a place of leadership, and the congress was beginning to act as a government
  • Most important event (continued)
  • Some of the outcomes of the war was Republicanism, which was the idea of a government ruled by the people. For this, the citizens would have to put the good of the country ahead of their own needs. Only some men were able to participate in the governing and voting but women had the role to teach kids about honesty, sacrificing, and duty.
  • Outcome/effects of the war (continued)
  • Britain has done many things that wanted the colonists to leave. First, they placed acts like the quartering act, the sugar act, and the stamp act on the colonists. They were mad that they were getting taxed without their consent so they rebelled against them.  This effected the citizens by making the pay more money, some losing jobs, and some have to pay for almost everything
  • Another important event was the Battle of Yorktown on October 19, 1781. This was a important event because the commander of the British army has fallen to Washington and his troops. The commander of the British Army, Cornwallis, surrendered and gave up 8,000 people. This battle caused British officials to notice Americas power so British officials left and Britain signed a peace treaty.
  • We surrender!
  • Yes! We have beaten the British commander
  • Part of this liberty was to have religious freedom. Before the war, Jews and Catholics could not hold public office. After the war, states began to get rid of religious laws.
