  • The narrator says, "He had the eye of a vulture- a pale blue eye, with a film over it." which means that he doesn't hate the man, just his eye.
  • Falling Action
  • When the farmer, the person with the vulture eye, woke up and since the narrator saw the vulture eye open, "It was open-wide, wide open-and I grew furious as I gazed upon it"
  • Resolution
  • The narrator grew furious when the vulture eye and "dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him."
  • Unreliable Narrator
  • The narrator hid the old man's dead body and let the police in thinking they wouldn't find the body of the old man "I bade them search- search well. I led them, at length, to his chamber."
  • The narrator,  heard a ringing noise and wanted the police to leave "I fancied a ringing in my ears: but still they sat and still chatted,"
  • The narrator hated and loved the man, "I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult," if you loved the old man then why would you kill him.
