Bob was born on February 6th, 1945 in Nine Mile, Jamaica. Bob was born to his mother Cedella Booker and to his father Norval Marley. When Bob was 9 years old, he stepped on a piece of glass when he was playing soccer. It became infected and this was one of the main reasons he died.

Bob Marley would play handmade musical instruments in the field yard in Trench Town. People always called him so talented and so he started a band called the Wailers.
Chapter 6: Who Was Bob Marley
Bob's band was successful but not until they met Coxsone Dodd. He was famous in Jamaica and he produced almost every song played on the radio. He owned Studio One and they had an audition for bands like Bob's every Sunday. Bob and the Wailers won the audition and Coxsone started to produce their music. Bob also got into the religion Rastafari.
Chapter 8: Who Was Bob Marley
Bob started dating Rita in 1964 and they got married in 1966. Rita was a single mother and Bob was willing to take care of her kid. They moved into a small house on Greenwich Park Road. Bob created the music we know today called reggae. It was mainly Rastafarian beliefs and talked about the poverty in Trench Town and all the violence.
Chris let the band move into a nice house at 56 Hope Road. One night when Rita was visiting Bob with his kid, people broke in and shot Bob in the arm and shot Rita with a bullet that skinned the back of her head. This made Bob Marley sad because he was fighting against gun violence.
Bob Marley died at a hospital with his family by his side on May 11, 1981. Three days later, 100,000 people in Kingston came to watch his funeral. He was buried in Nine Mile.
