Mrs. Lolla's Story on Human Trafficking By: Kyndall Edwards
Hello class! Today we will be learning about Human Trafficking. Does anyone know what that is?
Why do we need to know about this? Probably something to not even worry about.
Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labour, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others. It is very important to know! This occurs all over the world.
Are you sure this happens all over the world? In the United States too?
For the United States, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act has been authorized in 2000 and was the first federal law to address sex trafficking and labor trafficking in the U.S. The TVPA focuses on the prevention and protection for trafficking survivors, as well as prosecution for traffickers.
Yes! Human Trafficking takes place all over the world. Just in the United States from 1981-2014 we have had 93 Human Trafficking prosecution cases dealing with sexual content and 41 with forced labor.
