Lennie and George are sitting by the fire talking about "the dream" of one day owning a ranch with farm animals while waiting for their beans when Lennie complains he doesn't have ketchup. I think the theme of this chapter is to be thankful for what you have not sorry for what you dont have, because George could have just kept the beans to himself instead he decided to share them with Lennie who just complained about how he diddnt get ketchup too.
Lennie gets chased out of weed because he grabs a girls dress and doesn't let go when she screams. I think the theme or overall message is that you should always be aware of your surroundings because you never know how your actions could be taken.
Lennie snaps Curlys wife's neck and hides the body in a bush by the cave. Lennie is unaware of what he is doing or has done he doesnt feel he has done anything wrong. The overall message is to always be aware of your loved ones and never give out too much information.
When George and Lennie go to the river Lennie wants to tell him about the dream ranch , George tells Lennie to imagine his dream across the lake meanwhile George pulls a gun and shoots Lennie in the head, Lennie was a burden to Georges life he felt he could not handle him anymore, from this chapter i took that you should always be aware of your surroundings because you never know whos out to hurt you.
