- Montresor and Fortunato meet at the carnival and they fire up a convesation. Montresor has a plan. A plan so greatful it takes time. For it to work he's going to have to reel in Fortunato. Starting a conversation was the best decision especially at the carnival.

- The great plan of Montresors is to simply kill him. Just not anyway but a slow way. See now, Fortunato has always talked bad about Montresor, he doesn't approve of that. Montresor acts nice and friendly to him. Fortunato respects that and that's what Montresor wants.
- CONFLICT
- Montresor has Fortunato reeled in but why? Montresor says he's got wine, not any type of wine. He has Amontillado (not really) Fortunato loves wine especially Amontillado. But Montresor doesn't know if it is Amontillado, and has to go to Luchesi to find out.
- RISING ACTION
- As they're both walking around in the cellar, Fortunato starts to cough. This cough is the first sign of him starting to suffocate. By the smell, the body couldn't handle it and being somewhat sick made it worse. Fortunato would soon come to his death in the cellar.
- The plan Montresor had, worked. His so-called friend is dead and left behind in the cellar. He left him in peace.
- Montresor's plan had worked. To the guy that treated him poorly. AS we were slowly dying Montresors heart are sick and he didn't feel the same.
