Storyboard Text

  • Mamluk dynasty ( Slave dynasty ) ruled north India from 1206 - 1290 . Qutb ud-Din Aibak was taken over by Shams-ud-din Iltumish .
  • Iltumish did not think his sons would be good rulers . Hence he , nominated Razia as the next ruler of Delhi .
  • Razia sultana ruled Delhi from 1236-1240 AD . She was the first and last muslim lady to rule Delhi and in South Asia .
  • 
  • Razia did not practise " purdha " . She went on rounds to the market place and listen to the problem of her subject . Her values were associated with courage , justice and gender equality .
  • Razia faced stiff opposition from nobles . They hated her . The forty nobles could not tolerate a woman's rule and taking order from a woman .
  • Razia sultana married Altunia , the leader of a rebel group to pacify them . However both Razia and Altunia were defeated and were killed in september 1240 AD .
