  • Everybody consumed tea so much because it was really tasty and when it was taxed the patriots were really unhappy, On December 16,1773 Sons of Liberty dressed up as Native Americans, ran to the ships filled with tea. Tipped 342 crates of tea into Boston Harbor. They did it because taxes were not taken off the tea. The British closed the harbour due to the smell.
  • Declaration of Independence
  • This battle began in April 19th 1775. It was between them colonists and Britain. This battle was significant as it was the start of the American Revolutionary War. This was caused because Britain was putting many taxes on patriots/ British colonies. British shot first and the patriots fought for freedom. This was known as “The shot heard around the world.”
  • Treaty of Paris
  • On December 31st 1775, General Washington, with the American Continental Army, was blockading the British garrison in Boston, Brigadier Montgomery led an American attack up the Lake Champlain route into Canada and General Arnold took his American force across country through Maine.
  • The End
  • Thomas Jefferson wrote the official Declaration of Independence. On July 2nd, The voting for the declaration of independence was voted for and John Adams declared that July 2nd was the most beloved day in america, but the declaration of independence went into effect on July 4th, 1776 and that is why July 4th is America day.
  • The resulting treaty in 1783 saw: -Great Britain remove its troops from American soil, recognizing U.S independence -Cede territory up to the Mississippi River -Americans to pay any debt still owed to the British -Gave fair treatment to any colonists who remained loyal to the Crown -Spanish got Florida -French got an economic crisis leading to its own revolution.
