It remembers the day that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (OHCHR 1).
"Tell me what you did or get beat!"
"हाँ आप हरा देंगे"
"Pleaseeeee, I didn't do anything!"
In 2015, there were ninety-seven deaths while in Indian police custody. These deaths are often treated as accidents but the families do not believe so.
History of International Human Rights Day
In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human rights. This took place on December 10 which is the day that we celebrate International Human Rights Day. This day is meant to recognize the day that all the interested nations and organizations agreed to this day as being Human Rights Day.
Most victims die while being interrogated because of abuse. Human Rights Watch reported that there are many cases when Indian police beat the subjects in order to try to get them to speak.
"We will beat you to death if you don't admit to it!"
