  • Some explorers had to get permission from their leaders/rulers, in order to explore.
  • My royalties, send me one of your finest ships, and I will find land for you.
  • Many explorers set out to sea, to make money and earn fame. Most European nations wanted to explore to earn money.
  • Magnetic Compass-helped explorers go north, during the day or night.
  • Explorers used many tools to help them  navigate their way into the New World. These tools included a magnetic compass, navigational clocks, and many more.
  • Navigational Clock-helped explorers determine what time it was. 
  • That's Marco Polo!
  • One explorer's plan was to  explore Central   Asia and China. His name was Marco Polo. He  started to explore with his family on  1271. 
  • "I found land in the New World and called it, Virginia!"
  • Another  explorer is Sir Walter Raleigh.  He set  out to find the Roanoke Island Colony in the year of 1587. 
  • A famous explorer is Christopher Columbus. He  made many trips to the New World, but he had not successfully made his desired location.
  • Although Columbus didn't reach Asia, he did bring back goods such as gold, cotton and tobacco.
