food safety

Storyboard Text

  • Hello there! Today I will show you how to cook a meal properly. First, I must buy the appropriate ingredients for the meal. Make sure to put the ingredients in the fridge as soon as possible to keep it from reaching the danger zone!
  • Make sure to keep animals away from your workspace. They could potentially spread germs. Also, make sure to clear your space of chemicals and other flammable items! (lose fitting clothes can be in danger of catching on fire)
  •  Now that the veggies and meats are on separate plates/cutting boards, I can now start chopping up the tomatoes with a sharp chef's knife. After cutting foods, make sure to clean the cutting board with hot soapy water.
  • Once your workspace is cleared, It is time for the fun part! Before you start handling your cooking supplies, wash and dry your hands to prevent contaminating your food. If you have long hair, make sure to pull it back into a ponytail. Also, make sure to put on an apron.
  • Now that all of the safety measures are taken care of, we can now start sautéing the onions i have chopped up, and a garlic clove in olivr oil. (Make sure onion becomes translucent)
  • Stir in the tomatoes, salt, sugar and bay leaf. Cover the saucepan with a lid and make sure to reduce heat to low to let it simmer for 90 minutes.
  • Stir in tomato paste, basil, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and meatballs. Simmer for 30 minutes and serve.
  • Once you are finished cooking, clean your utensils and your surfaces while letting the food cool down a little bit. Don't let your food get too cold though, because of the risk of bacteria.
  • Now, it is dinner time! make sure you washed your hands after your workspace is clean.
