Siddhartha joined two religious preachers and he learned how to meditate. After that he spent six years in a forest with five other holy men.
Siddhartha went for months on end with little supplies in his search for pure happiness. He pulled out his facial and normal hair, he also then slept on a bed of thorns.
After his journey for pure happiness, Siddhartha made his way to Bodh Gada and he sat underneath the Bodhi Tree for 49 days, he then meditated. While meditating Siddhartha encountered the evil one Mara. He fought her off and when he finished he became the enlightened one Buddha.
After Buddha had been enlightened, he wanted to help others find the state of Nirvana. He began to teach those who gathered with him, they each learnt the Four Noble truths and the Eightfold path. These have become the pillars of Buddhism, and each Buddhist follows these teachings.
Buddha's life came to an end when he was 80, the reason of death was thought to be eating spoiled food.
