  • Boston Tea Party- December 16, 1773
  • That's a good idea, and the colonists will still buy the goods too!
  • The king's requesting tax on tea. Only west India Tea Company can sell.
  • On the night of December 16, 1773, colonials disguised as Indians boarded the ships and threw the tea overboard. They did so because they were afraid that Governor Hutchinson would secretly unload the tea because he owned a share in the cargo.
  • Take your ships and tea. We won't tolerate taxed tea!
  • As a result of the Boston Tea Party, the British shut down Boston Harbor until all of the 340 chests of British East India Company tea were paid for. This was implemented under the 1774 Intolerable Acts and known as the Boston Port Act.
  • You can't leave the harbor!! 
  • Clean up the boxes
  • The particularly severe winter of 1777-1778 proved to be a great trial for the American army.
