  • The church served to give people spiritual guidance and it serves as their government as well. All of the key moments of life like birth, marriage and death were under our control.
  • Kings and Queens
  • I ruled and protected this country. In return, you should pledege your loyalty and soldier to me.

  •  My job is to maintain an army that was at king's service
  • The Church was a major part of everyday life.The church was the wealthiest landowner in western Europe. The medieval church in western Europe looked to the pope, the bishop of Rome, for leadership. 
  • Knights
  • The top leader in the land.
  • Serfs 
  • We reside upon and work a parcel of land within the manor of our lord, in return for protection.
  • They ruled large areas of land called fiefs.
  • 
  • The feudal system developed after the fall of Rome. Norman split up the English land and they justified and maintained their power by building castles as power bases to control the English population.
  • The role of the knight was mainly to serve as an important weapon for his Lord.  
  • We were men who were given land that we could use to support ourselves. In return, we owed our military service to the lords.
  •  Serfs were the poorest of the peasant class, and they were a type of slave.
