The Husking Bee is when kids in a town come together to husk corn. They sing, dance, eat cakes, apples, and cider. There are also some famous red ears, red ears are corn that is red, not yellow. Whoever finds one will supposedly to get married.
John tells Kit that he is in love with Mercy and is going to ask Matthew tonight if he can court her. But what actually happens is when John says he needs to talk to Matthew, Judith buds in and say he doesn't have to stay behind to tell Matthew that he wants to court her. So, John ends up courting Judith.
The charter a bill of rights that the King of England gave to Connecticut. The new govern threatens to take away the charter, taking away all they have worked for, and their land. When they were at a meeting, it got dark so they asked for candles and opened the windows. And the wind blew the candles out and everyone stayed still. But when the candles were lit again the charter was gone.
Adventurous and blossomed Prudence
Nat and two other seamen from the Dolphin stole pumpkins from a field, craved unholy faces in them, lit them, and put them in Williams' windows. They did this on All Hallows Eve because Nat was jealous that William was courting Kit. The outcome was Nat and the seaman had to pay 40 shillings for the pumpkins, had to be in the stocks for 1 hour before meeting and 1 hour after, and were banned form Wethersfield and if they came back they would get whipped 20 times.
Kit discloses that she is courting William and that she plans to marry him. While she is there she learns that Nat has been coming to Prudence's private lessons. Kit feels jealous that Nat, Prudence, and Hannah have been all cozy in Hannah's house while Kit had to work tirelessly in the fields.
Prudence goes from woebegone to adventurous and blossomed. She will keep going to Hannah's because she is treated nicely there, unlike her home. Prudence feels satisfied when she writes for the first time. But when they leave that night they have no clue that they will never be at Hannah's house again.
