I can't wait to go home.
Salva, a 11 year old boy, is siting in his class in South Sudan.. The teacher is talking, but Salva is thinking about his family and his home. He was looking at the road home because he was ready for the day to end in just a few more minutes. All of a sudden, his teacher hears a loud crackle.
Salva and his class classify that they hear gunshots outside of the school because the government is shooting. Everyone is frightened and scared. Then, their teacher tells them to run to the bush, but to not go home. Therefore, they all run to the bush.
Soon after running away, he meets some other people from other tribes. However, they soon abandon him at a barn because they think that he would slow them down. Therefore, he continues the journey by himself.
Deep into the forest, Salva met up with other tribe men. Eventually, he was walking with the tribes men and met up with his uncle.Then, more people begin to meet up with them.
Later, they decide to flee and escape to Ethiopia. Therefore, they decide to cross the desert. They knew that it would be challenging, but they decide to do it anyway. Three days later, a couple of Nuer tribesmen catch them and kill Salva's uncle. Now Salva is alone. However, he decides to push foward and soon, he makes it to Ethiopia.
A couple of years later, he is shook by the sound of terror outside. He than realizes that he is being is forced out of the refugee camp by the Ethiopia government. He runs to the river that is by the boarder of Ethiopia and Sudan. He than jumps in. However, he then realizes that he is being pushed down by a boy trying to stay afloat.
