  • Hi  my name is Naomie and I work at my dadś  lumber camp.
  • Lumber camps were very busy places in the winter. Loggers cut White Pine in the winter because it was easier to move the giant trees over frozen ground.
  • When your a lumberjack you work many hours in a day. It is dangerous and difficult, but it pays well.
  • for hundreds of years vast forests of white pine-a tree prized for its high-quality lumber-grew in dense stands across much of northern minnestoa!
  • the lumber industry employed lumberjacks in the forests and the sawmill workers in the cities and towns-
  • rivers and waterfalls were just as important to the lumber industry as they were to flour milling industry 
  • few improvements however,were as important the railways at first most logs were hauled to rivers by horses
